A Conversation with Antonio Valdez of UTSA Baseball

The Runners Rising Project team jumped on zoom call to chat with Antonio Valdez this past season. Antonio led UTSA to one of best seasons in program history. As part of the team this year, he batted .387, had 65 RBIs, and 13 homeruns. Playing third base for the Roadrunners, he posted a .955 fielding percentage.

Antonio grew up in Corpus Christi Texas and attended baseball powerhouse Ray High School. Initially attended UIW where he was coached by both Coach Hallmark and Ryan Aguayo. Antonio then spent some time at San Jacinto Junior College before making his way to Baylor. For his final and best year, he joined the Roadrunners and helped get the baseball program to its first ever top 25 ranking.
