A Conversation with Hannah Holzmann of UTSA Golf

Hannah Holzmann joined the Runners Rising Project for a quick chat. Holzmann is a San Antonio native and a soon to be UTSA graduate. Hannah is majoring in Sociology but has some other plans after UTSA. You’ll have to check out the interview for exactly what that is. Hannah is finishing up her senior year and currently with the women’s golf team in Tennessee playing at the NCAA regional tourney. UTSA Track & Field’s Mackenzie Grimes – Instagram takeover

Runners Rising’s first NIL deal with a UTSA Track & Field athlete took place last week when Mackenzie Grimes took over our Instagram account. Mackenzie provided a behind the scenes look at what it takes to be a UTSA track & field student athlete. Mackenzie took our followers to practice after starting the day off with a healthy breakfast. A quick refuel at the team lunch was followed up by ANOTHER practice (weight training) and some much needed recovery before finishing off the day at a local FCA event with other friends and athletes. A Conversation with Terrell Haynes of UTSA Football

UTSA Football player Terrell Haynes joined Runners Rising’s Eddie Benningfield for a great interview. Terrell is a 6’3″ senior offensive lineman from Arlington, Texas. He played high school football at Arlington Seguin before attending UTSA. He’s a Kinesiology major and played a major role in helping the Roadrunners win their first ever Conference USA title this past season. Lexi Bolton & Jonathan Tapia Instagram takeovers

The first two official Runners Rising athletes Lexi Bolton and Jonatha Tapia took over our Instagram account this last weekend. Lexi started the weekend off Friday with a typical day as a soccer student athlete mixed in with a special Fiesta “Dia en la Sombrilla” sneak peak. Alumni will remember this Fiesta event previously named “Fiesta UTSA”. Q&A with Elyssa Coleman of UTSA Basketball

Elyssa Coleman is a redshirt freshman from Houston, Texas. She transferred to UTSA after signing and attending UT Austin out of Atascocita high school. Coleman was ranked as the #12 forward in the 2020 high school class (ESPN). She had an impressive first year with UTSA. Her breakout game came in the CUSA tournament against UTEP with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Twitter Q&A – Jonathan Tapia of UTSA Baseball

The Runners Rising Project is happy to have Jonathan as our very first official Runners Rising Athlete! Jonathan is a San Antonio native and attended O’Connor High School in Helotes. He choose to stay home and attend UTSA while majoring in Kinesiology. He batted .295 in 2021 with 24 RBIs as a member of the UTSA baseball team and also played in the Texas Collegiate League as a member of the Victoria Generals. Excelling both on and off the field, Jonathan has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each of his four years at UTSA (2017-2021).

Last week the Runners Rising Project hit an exciting milestone as we recorded our first interview with a UTSA student-athlete. Our volunteer staff approached UTSA wide receiver JT Clark to engage in an NIL agreement with him to produce an interview in exchange for a cash payment.
